Morning
Haze 1970
I used to work shift work at Wallace & Tiernan
in Tonbridge
Kent
as an engineer. I belonged to an amateur dramatics
company "Priory Players" and used to draw cartoons for the
magazine. I got together with Paul Washington & Mike O’Hare when
we were asked to join in on a musical production and we played some
Beatles tunes with acoustic guitars and three part harmony, it was
well received so we decided to form a trio "Morning Haze"
.Our first job was at a working men’s club in Sevenoaks we were paid
25 pounds !!!

Sweet
Illusion 1972-1978
  When Mike left the
band Paul decided to find a new bass player & add a drummer
& Keyboards so Clive Sayer who worked in the music shop in Maidstone stepped in, he found Terry Brown & Alan Jiggins
who also joined us. We had a weekly Thursday night at the Elizabethan
Barn in Tunbridge Wells where we would play country music and invite
guests to join us some of which were George Hamilton, the Hillsiders,
lots of local bands and some comedians. |
It was around this
time that Paul found he had a gift for making people laugh, whilst
introducing the songs he would tell a funny story or make fun of one
of us and get a good audience reaction. We became Sweet Illusion and
during the 70s were a popular comedy musical cabaret show band throughout
the
Kent
&
Sussex
areas. |

In the studio. We made a couple of L.P.s during
this time we would sell them on gigs( I'm not very proud of my performance
on any of them) |
I left the band in 1978. |
